A Day in the life – Tangie

Sneak peak at The daily grind of Tangie the PA – blogger and first time mom in pa school, now raising her daughter as a single parent

My days vary depending on the rotation. There’s been plenty of times I’ve arrived on time just to realize that I’m still wearing my slippers or forget to grab all my breast pumping supplies.

5:45am– First alarm goes off, wake up and make sure I have my clothes ready

6:00am –second alarm –nurse baby and get ready

7:00am– third alarm in case I fall asleep while breast feeding, prepare breakfast, gather bags (work bag, lunch bag, breast pump, cooler with bottles)

7:30am – wash my daughter’s face, get her dressed, and leave her with my grandmother

7:30/8:00am – Must leave home by 8 to get to 9am rotation, eat breakfast in the car

10:00am-10:15am – Pump break-during this time I play catch up with my patient logs for school so I don’t take work home with me

12:00pm-1:00pm – Lunch varies

2:00pm-2:15pm – Pump break (eat while pumping if I didn’t get a lunch)

6:00pm – I usually get home in time for feeding. I get home, shower (to wash away patient interactions), nurse my daughter, then get her situated and ready for the next day

7:00pm-8:00pm – Have dinner (if I haven’t eaten in the car on the way home)

9:30pm – Go to bed (I try to get to bed early as possible because anything can happen in the middle of the night with an infant.)
